Did you know Stonecliffe was once home to the only island ski resort in the world? In the early 1970s, “Mt. Humbard” featured ski jumps, chair lifts, a toboggan run, and even trails with names like the “Hallelujah Trail.” Despite its ambitious vision, the resort only operated for two winters before closing, earning the nickname “Humbard’s Folly.”

The highly anticipated Snow Snake Ski Patrol Ski Swap is set to return in one month! This is a great opportunity to find the new or used gear you need to enjoy the upcoming winter.
For those looking to sell ski and snowboard equipment or winter gear, drop off for items will be Friday, October 17th. Sales of skis, snowboards, and winter gear will be on Saturday, October 18th.
This great event also helps support the Snow Snake Ski Patrol. The Snow Snake Ski Patrol consists solely of incredible volunteers and a portion of the sales from this event goes directly toward supporting this volunteer organization.

6/7/25 Took a drive today and found myself on Patterson Hill Road so I thought I would drive up the hill and take a few shots of Swiss Valley in June. It was so quiet — you could just hear the sounds of the wind, the birds singing, bees buzzing and a few woodpeckers. It was very peaceful. It won’t be long now before the summer fades to fall and the snowmaking will begin. Soon the slopes will again be filled with skiers and snowboarders and the sounds of classic rock. Until then, enjoy the beauty of summer!
