Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA) has produced the White Gold Card which allows the holder to ski at 31 different Michigan ski areas this winter for just $299.
The MSIA White Gold Card entitles the purchaser to ski one time at each of the participating ski areas during the 2020/2021 ski season. In addition to the 31 lift tickets, White Gold Card purchasers also receive one complimentary ski or snowboard tune-up, 3 hot wax sessions and a coupon for $20 off a purchase of $100 at participating retailers. Retail value is over $2,000!
White Gold Cards have been shipped to Michigan ski shops! We suggest you contact the shop near you to be sure they have arrived before heading out to purchase yours.
MSIA Cold is Cool Passport allows Fourth and Fifth Graders to Ski Free in Michigan!
Families can obtain a Cold is Cool Ski & Ride Passport App for their 4th and/or 5th graders that gives them up to three free lift tickets or trail passes at 28 participating ski areas, plus additional discounts on the slopes and in Michigan ski shops. MSIA charges $25 for the passport (to cover app development and maintenance.)
In addition to the lift tickets donated by the participating ski areas, Cold is Cool Passport also includes a coupon for 20% off a helmet purchase and $20 off the purchase of $100 at participating ski shops across the state. Some ski areas have also included coupons for equipment rental and free or discounted lessons.
Note: We have turned the Passport booklet into an app to download on your phone, making it contactless at the lift ticket window. The app will be available to download before the snow flies. You can pre-order yours now, and once the app is ready, we’ll send instructions on how to download.
Without a doubt, 2020 has been a year of change. Dealing with the safety of guests and staff during a pandemic has been a top priority of ski areas across Michigan as they prepare to open. Indoor capacity limits, face covering rules, new outdoor dining options, new lift queue configurations, and social distancing rules are all changes that ski areas are making as they prepare to open. This season, the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA) is urging skiers and riders to “Know before you go,” by checking the website of the ski area you are planning to visit to familiarize yourself with their COVID-19 protocol.
“Some ski areas are going to contactless lift ticket sales, others are bringing in food trucks for outdoor dining, changing the rental department around to aid in social distancing and limiting class sizes for ski and snowboard lessons,” says Steve Kershner, MSIA chairman and director of snow sports at Shanty Creek Resort.
One rule that will be consistent across all Michigan ski areas is the requirement to wear CDC-recommended face coverings in all indoor spaces, except when seated to eat or drink, and outdoors when 6 feet of physical distance cannot be maintained – such as the base lodge staging area, shuttles, lift lines, while loading and riding a lift, or entering an indoor facility.
“The important thing to remember is that we are doing this for the wellbeing of our guests and our staff. We want everyone to be able to head out and enjoy the slopes safely,” Kershner adds.

After a two year Covid hiatus, the Groomer Appreciation/End of Season party is back on the schedule! Taking place April 2nd at Noon sharp at the Huron Meadows Clubhouse.
This is our opportunity to thank the people who worked so hard to give us excellent skiing all Winter. In addition to thanking the people who make the skiing possible, and general socializing, the highly coveted Golden Hamster Wheel award is back! We’re also going to do some team NSR specific awards.
It’s potluck, so please bring a dish to pass, or a drink to share (no alcohol may be brought into the park). We'll provide some basic pizzas and beverages.
Not only is this a chance to say thanks, it’s also a way to show the power of our numbers. This event has always been well attended and that speaks volumes to the park staff/directors who also attend, and they will be in attendance. One of the reasons the park committed to purchasing expensive equipment is that they know we support the program. It’s important to show we care!
